So there I was, at the Internet Librarian 2001 convention in Pasadena, not much to do, an evening on my own...and I decided to go looking for the bookstores that my friend Colin had recommended...and set off into deepest Pasadena. Four blocks from the convention center, I found heaven. Two excellent bookstores, a block apart. Lovely.
Book Alley is the larger of the two; happy disorder, many nooks and crannies, a friendly staff, a lot of great books to look through and good prices. Book Alley Too is harder to find, it's in a little mall set off the street; find the street number, go in through the archway and look to your left...you'll be glad you did. A tiny room full of lovely antiquarian and children's books, often good prices, great staff, wow! |
