At the end of his life, Antonio Salieri tells
Mozart's story and his own
part in it.
What can I say about this incredible movie?
"See it NOW!" comes to mind...
a great story, beautiful settings and
costumes, lavish bits of opera
production, a stunning score so intricately
woven in with the script
that the adage about 'if you notice the music
it's a bad movie' is
turned around completely- this music is meant
to be noticed, and is a
part of the script. And wonderful
performances by everyone involved- I
can't think of a single actor who wasn't
perfect for his/her role, or
who didn't do a good job in this one.
No, it's not completely historically
accurate, Schaffer tweaked a lot
of happenings to make a good story-and by
golly, he succeeded! Not to be
missed.
