A rich girl and a poor girl in Mexico become you-know-whats to stop the evil American who is buying
up the banks, evicting the farmers and ultimately stealing the gold. The girls play Robin Hood and,
of course, foil him at the last minute.
Mr. Otter watched this in Spanish and highly approved of the politics; he wanted to see if the
dialogue and subtext of 'Power to the People' (Mr. Otter being, of course, a product of the 60s)
were
changed in the English language version. So I said, sure, looks like fun, anything with explosions
and Serious Honey Salma Hayek is okay by me.
Well, Mr. Otter was pleased. I was less so. These are not, as I expected, tough women out to avenge
wrongs and kick butt. These are prissy girls who say EEK! a lot and wear long skirts even when
living the wild outlaw life and are worried about how well they kiss (the young detective, who of
course does not end up with either of them). Silly and vapid, with a (very) few good scenes.
