Batman foils The Joker's nefarious plot to kill the population of Gotham City.

Oh man. This one is SO GOOD on so many levels. Firstly, let me say that this is the ONLY movie in which Michael Keaton is a honey; but he seriously is, here. Too bad they picked Kim "I'm a barbiesque clotheshorse with no personality at all" Basinger to be the girl...but that's OK.

Jack Nicholson has a WONDERFUL time camping around, a villian that's almost too cute to hate, and there are many other supporting parts (Alfred, for one) that are excellent. Several amusing one-liners, good plot twists, many explosions, high body count.

Set design is a winner, as are special effects and costume (except for Ms. B, who is WAY overdressed most of the time.) This was Danny Elfman's first big hit for movie score, so there was none of the 'haven't I heard this somewhere before?' feeling that all his other scores have...and what can one say about the genius of Tim Burton? Even when he makes a bad movie, he makes it interesting.

One of the better action movies of recent (well, 13 years ago, maybe not so recent) years.
