Two men in a hurry have a fenderbender that
changes their lives
forever.
Mr. Otter and I were pleasantly surprised by this one...from the trailers, we just expected a bloodbath, and since it was a day when I had few brain cells to spare, home from work and sick as a dog, that would have been fine. But no. This was a tautly suspenseful character study, in which Ben Affleck (the lawyer) and Samuel L. Jackson (on his way to an important appointment) meet, mess up each other's lives, and the problems keep escalating...more and more people are involved, things get more and more out of control...and then the plot starts going in unexpected directions. Affleck and Jackson are both very good here, but so are the supporting cast- especially their wives, played (respectively) by Amanda Peet and Kim Staunton. And is Affleck a honey, after all? Sadly, no. Pretty, nice to watch, but as of Jersey Girl he'd lost his edge. Too bad, because in this movie, he was still a serious contender for the honored title of Serious Honey. So fleeting is honeydom, ah well. |
