Don Juan loves his way across France and England.

Well, this was kind of sad. Or pathetic. Maybe idiotic is the word I'm looking for? hm.

Embarassingly enough, it's one of my family's favorite movies, we'd run across it on a Saturday afternoon and all watch it and talk and eat and make comments and generally not pay too much attention to it.

Which is why I had absolutely no memory of the actual plot.

Or of how bad this movie actually is.

Errol Flynn is in his early-post-honey period, still good-looking but starting to show the results of his dissipated lifestyle. Not eye candy, but okay. Alan Hale is here as his sidekick, and does his usual scenery-chewing, fun to watch.

But the plot and the dialogue! oh my god, they are almost painful. A farrago of slightly sexy double-entendres, mixed up with silly plot twists and erroneous history...and 'erroneous' is a kind word to use, actually.

HINT: if you have an easily identifiable time period, (like Spain at the time of the Armada), make sure you don't mix up kings. In this movie, King Philip was sending off the Armada (that's Philip II) but married to Margaret (that's Philip III...oops.)

And (for those who care) the silliest, most un-period costume choices since Brigadoon.

This is definitely a movie that is only meant for msting...do not attempt to watch it with a straight face, it will crack and fall off when you start laughing or screaming at the television.
