From the novel In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead by James Lee Burke
A police officer tries to find who is viciously killing young hookers in a small town outside New Orleans. I was making dinner and Mr. Otter came home with a couple of movies...I saw this and, even though we both SHOULD have been reading our Dickens books for the book group...we were momentarily weak. This looks good, I said, and it's got Tommy Lee Jones (Serious Honey) and John Goodman (Otter Family Favorite Actor) in it. And it's short. Let's watch it and read afterwards. And I was so glad we did. I'm not much for mystery stories, and although I have read James Lee Burke, and he's a good writer, I am not a fan of his.
But damn, this was good. Atmospheric locations, wonderful score, good tight plot (it's only 102
minutes) and excellent acting. Very much worth seeing, and the ending was not a disappointment, as
it often is with 'who is doing it?' kinds of movies.
