Zombies have destroyed most of the country and people live in small-town enclaves, but now there
are collars that control the zombies and they are kept as house servants...
This odd little gem of a movie was recommended to me by several people, including Maid-of-Awesome, the Barracuda and Miz Shoes...it is charming, and fun to watch merely for the costumes and sets, since it takes place in a retro Fifties setting, much like Pleasantville with guns. Serious Honey Carrie Ann Moss plays the mother who gets a zombie to keep up with the neighbors, and the family ends up sort of making him one of their own. Astute viewers (like Maid-of-Awesome) will recognize Fido as the same actor who played Il Duce in Boondock Saints. Tim Blake Nelson is also here, and Mr. Otter, who can recognize ANYBODY, had a hard time believing that this was him...but indeed, it is. So retro fifties with zombie house servants, quite a bit of blood, some very funny scenes, good actors and good plotting. What more can you ask? well worth seeing, especially if you (like many of us) are enjoying the new take on zombie movies started by Sean of the Dead. |
