The story of the battle of Iwo Jima in WWII, the men involved in raising the flag, and how their lives were changed afterwards.

Wow, Clint Eastwood is surely using whatever time he has left (and may his life be long and productive) well. This was an excellent movie, he's been making a lot of excellent movies, and I hope he keeps it up for a long, long time.

Although there are a lot of war scenes, this is not so much a war movie as an examination of what notoriety, deserved or not, can do to people's lives. The movie cuts between scenes before and during the battle, the flag raising, and the publicity meat-grinder that these guys came home to.

Well written, beautifully filmed, historically accurate (Historian-on-a-Stick was pleased), this is a movie that everyone should see.

And I won't tell you any more about it, it was too good to give anything away.
