What's Otter's
rating system?
So Edward is in our world, in Weimar Germany, and his brother Alphonse, human again but with no memory of his time in the armor or his journeys with his brother, is at home. And neither knows if the other is even alive. Oh my god. That was such a screamer at the end of the anime series, I actually cried. After all they had been through. But man, Winry sure gets the short end of the stick, doesn't she? that sucked.

And now? Edward is in 1920s Germany, the Nazis are coming to power, and (as we all know from Indiana Jones (although it was true)) those Nazis are seriously into occult stuff...and it turns out they want to INVADE EDWARD'S HOME WORLD. OMG. And Maes Hughes is still alive and a NAZI? that was a real hard one to take, I really liked him in both series and it was sad both times when he died...and Edward is friends with Fritz Lang who is our world's version of President Bradley! (who is also Wrath in the books, that's a change from the anime, he's Pride there. Not a huge change, but interesting.) I liked Lang's character in the movie, he was one of the more interesting people.

I found the movie to be fascinating, pretty good history, at least the parts they didn't have to change for the story, great character development, and a WHOLE lot of surprises. Like Gluttony, oh my god. I actually gasped. And I thought the final ending was WONDERFUL. I really can't praise it highly enough.

But it is not something that you can watch cold...without the buildup of 52 episodes of the TV show, it wouldn't have nearly the impact it does after knowing where all these people come from and what they've gone through to get there...I imagine the reaction to the movie alone would be, "huh?".

But this otter? she LOVED IT.
