What's Otter's
rating system?
Kinda sorta from the book by Jonathan Swift, although as far as I can tell they took very little but the basic 'little people' concept and some names...

This is a real guilty pleasure. Like a golden retreiver puppy, this one has no brains but you love it just the same, and it grows on you. A very silly story, some good songs, a lot of animated comedic stuff, but what a wonderful movie! a favorite of mine since I was a tiny little otter.

Gulliver is washed ashore right in the middle of a feud between Lilliput and Blefescu over which of their national anthems will be sung at the Prince and Princess' wedding. All ends well, of course, and it's fun getting there.

The animation is really great, as good as much of the later Disney oeuvre, and especially the contrast between Gulliver (who is rotoscoped throughout) and the animated characters gives him an otherworldly quality that is quite charming.

This is one of those cheapjack DVDs that was made from any old print with nothing done to it when it was digitized, so the quality varies constantly from too light to too dark to wierd colors to little specks on the film...then there will be one small piece of film that is PERFECT. You can see the colors, the drawing, the whole layout...and it's lovely. I hope someone with a heart will spend the time to digitize this properly and clean it up, it's worth it.

If you missed this one, watch it with a kid for twice the fun!
