I really really wanted to like this movie: singing and dancing penguins? how can anyone resist?

Well, I could. Been there, done that. Cute animal on a quest to find acceptance. Lots of celebrity voices. Eccentric characters. Final vindication. Sigh. Even the excellent animation did not endear this stupid and annoying movie to me.

Yes, the first five minutes were great, a perfect sendup of March of the Penguins. But after that it was trite and boring. And the fact that in order to differentiate Mumble from all the other penguins, he was drawn with his youthful plumage and coloring, looking young and immature, did not make me like him more, it just made him look retarded, to use a non-PC term that fits the situation perfectly.

Skip this unless you are nuts about animation, penguins or both. It does not rock, it sucks.
