There is no adequate way to describe this wierd and charming movie, but I'll
try: Albert is struck by several coincidences, through one of which he
receives a business card for a pair of 'existential detectives' whom he
hires to follow him around and make sense of his life. And they do, sort of.
This is a wonderful movie. Strange and quirky, but you can't beat Lily Tomlin and Dustin Hoffman as a pair of oddball detectives. All the characters are good, and by the end we were cheering for the good guys and loving the convoluted path the story took to get where it went. And laughing hysterically more than once, it was way funny once we kind of gave up a grip on reality and went with the flow. Jude Law (total honey) is in this as well, woof. He's completely despicable, but lots of fun to watch. If you like movies that can be described as quirky, zany or 'interesting', and don't mind not having a single explosion in 90 minutes, you'll love this one. It's a real pip. Even if you don't have a degree in philosophy. |
