The Best Thief In The World gets out of prison, determined to go straight, but is
blackmailed into stealing several of Da Vinci's artworks to get the pieces of a machine that will
turn lead to gold.
And that probably tells you exactly how silly this movie is. A 90s fluff piece (well, 1991), Spider Jerusalem was amazed that I hadn't seen it...I didn't have the heart to tell him that my penchant for explodos actually began in late 1991 when Mr. Otter and I saw Terminator 2: Judgment Day...and I loved it. But before that, I mostly saw comedies and whatever was playing at the theater. After that? explosions, SF, gunfights, whatever. It was a real consciousness-raising movie for me. Anyway. Not only had I not seen this movie, I hadn't heard of it...and it was dated, but fun. Bruce Willis has HAIR, if you can imagine him being that young (36). There are all kinds of late 80s references, and everyone is having a wonderful time being kind of silly and crazy, especially the woman who plays the bad girl. Worth seeing if you're in the mood, fun, a bit dated, silly, not bad. |
