Peter Falk and Alan Arkin star in this story
of two men whose children are
soon to marry, and the wierd and wacky things
that happen to them during the
two days before the wedding.
OK, this is beyond silly. Falk leads Arkin deeper and deeper into crime and intrigue, all the while reassuring him that everything is fine when of course it isn't...and Arkin is the perfect foil to all this madness, trying desperately to keep his cool and act normally and do the right thing and not offend anyone...oh man. Peter Falk may be a serious honey...he's certainly fun to watch, and he is in his prime in this one. Charming, low key, very convincing...yet the viewer is never sure if he is really in control, only thinks he is in control, or is a raving nutcase. And the ending is perfect. Rent this one, laugh, and enjoy. I have not seen it but have heard that the 2003 remake with Michael Douglas is not nearly as funny...more on that if I get my courage up and watch it... |
