A group of worker drones is kept in line by promises of being allowed to go to The Island...and two of them find out what is really going on.

Okay, first off, let me say that I rented this one purely on the basis of good trailers...and for once, amazingly enough, in spite of bad WoM, I was totally not disappointed.

This review is the short review, the long review contains complete spoilers, so don't go there if you haven't seen it.

Without giving away the plot, there isn't much that I can say except that this is excellent brainless explodo...as you can see from the reality police above, there are plot holes you could drive a mack truck through, and every ten minutes or so I found myself thinking, "no way!"...and yet, this was extremely enjoyable.

Firstly, Ewan McGregor is one of the stars, and though I don't think he's a honey (might change my mind if he ages well) he's way good looking, an excellent actor, and a perfect choice for this film. Scarlet Johansson was also excellent, and fun to watch, troutlips aside. And there's Sean (almost a honey) Bean (don't you just love his name?), Steve Buscemi (an Otter Family Favorite Actor) in an EXCELLENT role, and Michael Clarke Duncan, whom I will forever think of as the big guy from The Green Mile. Really, really good cast.

And the plot, although it is wildly unbelieveable, is fast moving, well written, and enjoyable. Lots of explodo, including one of the best vehicle chase scenes I've seen in the last few years, worth the admission for that alone. Good special effects all through.

And I was pleased to actually recognize one of the shooting locations, the empty buildings of the ghost town of Rhyolite, NV.

Rent it and enjoy it, it's nonstop fun.
