Michael Caine stars in one of the most famous caper movies ever made.
Mr. Otter was out of town for the weekend, and in between working, being horribly ill, and dealing with a sick cat or two, I found a bit of time to watch a movie. And this was my first choice. This is a movie I've heard about forever. I really love Michael Caine (serious honey) in pretty much anything, and especially in a fast-moving and witty caper flick. And I was totally not disappointed. A bunch of Brits (under the aegis of Noel Coward, the crime boss) get together to steal a shipment of gold from Turin, Italy. They plan a complicated job, and seeing this happen, more or less, is a joy. Especially the trio of adorable Mini-Coopers that are used in part of the job. I don't want to say too much, this is one it's better to discover for yourself...the humor is great and very British, and seeing Noel Coward as the Regiphile crime boss was a hoot. And the ending? sorry, you'll have to see it for yourself. It's well worth it. |
