This is the short review, the long
review contains serious spoilers...on the other hand, considering that
this has been touted as the movie nobody is seeing, you may not care. Go
ahead.
A young blacksmith named Balian turns out (much to his surprise) to be the son of a baron in the Holy Land, and joins Dad to go on crusade. Pretty darn good historically, although I go into more detail on that in the long review. Beautifully filmed, costumes are wonderful, the LOOK is great. Many of the major characters (the historical figures) are true to life. Unfortunately, there is much PC claptrap about living together in peace, and the only woman who has a major part acts like a contemporary woman...not bloody likely. But worth seeing on the big screen, just try not to pay 9.50 for it. |
