The Librarian departs on yet another action-filled adventure.
This is a sequel to last year's Librarian: Quest for the Spear, which was evidently an underground sleeper hit kind of thing. Noah Wyle is again the know-it-all yet 'aw shucks' kind of guy he played before (an archivist, NOT a librarian, btw) and is again as cute as a box full of puppies. This one is a more direct riff on the Indiana Jones movies (as opposed to the James Bond oeuvre, as in the previous movie. God, I love being able to use that word...) and is fun to watch, but not as good as the first one; being more of a direct adventure than about the Librarian himself, there's not as much character development or interest in supporting characters. But the special effects are good and not oogie, the dialogue is amusing, and the plot works well enough. Not as good as the first, but worth seeing. |
