Denzel Washington is a washed up ex-??? CIA? Special Forces? we don't know to begin with, and learn very little except through a few flashbacks...he's in Mexico, visiting a friend and drinking heavily...the friend finds him a job as a second-rate (less expensive) bodyguard for a rich man's daughter, and of course she gets kidnapped and he goes on a rampage.

This is very predictable, but a good watch nonetheless...the fact that his character is an alcoholic makes the stoic/stonefaced Mr. Washington believeable as he makes his rounds of the bad guys, taking them all out. The parents of the girl, especially the mother, are good, and the little girl, played by Dakota Fanning, is charming as anything...the interaction between Washington and Fanning is the best part of the movie, and worth the rental.

But there are lots of gunshots, violence and explosions too, so that makes it even more worthwhile. Rent it, you'll enjoy it.
