rating system?
Guy Pearce plays a man who has no short term memory, and has to take pictures of everything and leave them for himself so he won't forget things that just happened...but who is nevertheless out for revenge.

I had heard about this movie before the Barracuda and The Dog Master (with whom I was spending a weekend of debauchery, eating, jewelry shopping and museum visits, oh MAN! what a nice weekend...not to mention their excellent company) showed it to me, and had wanted to see it for a while...and I must say, I was quite pleased with it.

Guy Pearce is too thin but still kind of a cutie, and although he was in The Time Machine, which was (except for him) putrid, he was also Felicia in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, which more than makes up for one lapse of judgement in my book. And indeed, he was ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT in this movie. As were Joe Pantoliano and Serious Honey Carrie-Anne Moss.

I won't tell you ANYTHING about this movie, except that it is interesting, suspenseful, a little wierd, a little gory, very very well written, and (if it were a book) would be called a serious page-turner. The concept is odd and intriguing, but what the writer and director DO with it is just amazing.

This otter says run, don't walk, to the rental store and get it, you'll be glad you did. And make sure all your brain cells are in working order, you'll need them.
