From the book of the same name by J. K. Rowling. Harry Potter is sent to Wizards' school.

Sigh. OK, OK, I'll admit it, I'm probably the last person on the WHOLE CONTINENT who has not read these books. And why? Because I'm tired of waiting for the next book to come out in all these fantasy series where the writers gives us one book a year and then we have to WAIT and WAIT and WAIT...I didn't hear about Harry Potter until the fourth was about to be published, so I am trying very very hard not to start reading them until Rowling comes out with the seventh (and last) in the series.

And waiting just got a lot harder...

I refused to see the movie because I really would rather read the book first. I held out for almost 8 months...and then I was visiting my mom and she wanted to see it. So I said, sure, glad to, let's watch it.

And then she fell asleep during the last half hour!

So yes, I loved it. The story is great, full of surprises for me since I hadn't read the book and didn't know what to expect. Daniel Radcliffe is perfect as Harry Potter, and having normal everyday stuff with the magic world existing side by side and mixed up together was well imagined and fascinating.

Not to mention the marvelous special effects, wow!

If you, like me, have been holding out, it's a hard choice; the movie gives away the surprise ending from the book (at least I'm assuming it's the same) but it is truly a magical experience.
