What's Otter's
rating system?
Avant-garde director is tired of dealing with temperamental stars and uses new (secret) technology to put a digital actress in his movie, which turns the (nonexistant) actress into a megastar and makes his life very very complicated...

Mr. Otter and I were in Ashland, OR for the Shakespeare Festival, but it was Labor Day, and there were no plays that night, so we got all wild and crazy and decided to go see a movie, and this was it.

I have to say that I was a little disappointed in this one; the trailers made it look like the simulation actually came to life, in the time honored tradition of AIs in film and story...but no, it's just about the phenomenon of Simone (Sim One, get it? yup.) and what it does to his life.

Pacino is only OK in this, not nearly as good as he was in Insomnia (the Beckster will hate me for saying that, he's her Golden Love Object) and he doesn't die in the end for once, not necessarily a bonus! Evan Rachel Wood stole the show as Pacino's daughter, though, she was great. And the pretentious movie footage, that was amusing.

Mr. Otter liked it better than I did, but he's really into that Hollywood thing, and I'm not. Rent it, don't pay too much, it'll do just as well at home as on the big screen.
