The traditional story of a princess who escapes from the evil
queen (her
stepmother) and finds a home with her new friends in the woods, is
tricked into eating a bite of poison apple, and is put into a
magic
sleep until she is awakened by the kiss of her True Love.
Although I never, to the best of my knowledge, saw a single Disney movie as a young otter, I love this one. Yes, it's kinda dumb, and that 'little girl' look and sound they gave Snow White really makes you wonder if the dwarves were REALLY all sleeping downstairs...but nevertheless, it's wonderful. The dwarves are adorable in their various ways and personalities, the evil queen is scary, the animals are cute, Snow White is way too precious but winsome and charming at the same time, and Prince Charming...well, at least he got a better role than the prince in Sleeping Beauty whose dragon is actually defeated by the fairy godmothers without him getting to whack it even once...how ignominious! Watch it with your favorite kid, and you can both hide your eyes during the scary bits. |
