From the short story of the same name by Truman Capote. Two odd people fall in love despite numerous obstacles.

I really want to like this more than I did; a lot of people have told me that it's a charming movie...but I really didn't like Holly much, thought she was a dweeb at the beginning, although I liked her better after finding out more about her past. George Peppard isn't quite a honey, although he was very close to it in this one. Patricia Neal is perfect for her part, but not very likable. The cat is really the most appealing being in this movie.

Oh, and a couple of scenes in a library, including a stereotypical librarian who is nasty to them and tells them to be quiet. *sigh*

By the ending, I was intrigued; I'll probably need to see it again to decide what I really think about it. For now, it's a four. I'll let you know if I change my mind later on.

Penalty for inappropriate behavior: Mickey Rooney as the Japanese man upstairs. This is offensive on so many different levels that I'm not even going there.
