A policeman goes to a remote Scottish island to
investigate a kidnapping
and finds himself in a village of witches.
Well, this is another one of those movies that, while not a great movie in and of itself, is still fun to watch for other reasons...in this case, it's not so much the suspense of the plot (which is really obvious about 15 minutes into the movie, even if the title doesn't give it away) but the interplay between the townspeople and the very strictly Christian police officer, wonderfully played by Edward Woodward.
There are some good lines in this ("But they
are... are naked!" Librarian alert: Ingrid Pitt plays a character that seems to be the equivalent of a County Recorder (death records and such) but in the credits she is listed as the Librarian...maybe because the island is so small. Anyway, a nice lack of stereotypes, at least she looks relatively normal. If you like slightly outre stuff, try this. |
